Global Protect MAC ONLY - AVG Install, Security Scan, Not Connecting
Intuit Global Protect for MAC ONLY requires a 3rd Party antivirus to be downloaded to your device. If you have a WIndows PC, please click on this link and you will be redirected.
This article will explain how to do the following:
- Install AVG
- Run Smart Scan
- Changing Network Settings
- Installing Mac Security Key (in case you didnt do it already)
Install AVG
Please download the following Intuit approved antivirus for your Mac Computer using the following steps. (Please be sure to run the Smart Scan every 7 days after installation.)
Step 1. Download the free version of AVG by clicking here
Step 2. Click on Free Download
Step 4. Double click the icon to install
Step 5. Click Allow
Step 6. Click Continue
Step 7. Click Continue
Step 8. Click Agree
Step 9. Click Install
Step 10. Enter the computer Admin User Name and Password, and click Install Software
Step 11. Click on Open Security Preferences (if you hit ok you will need to manually open your Security Preferences: Systems Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab)
Step 13. Enter in the computer Admin User Name and Password, then click unlock
Step 14. Click Allow
Step 15. Click the Firewall tab
Step 16. Make sure your Firewall is on
Step 17. Click Firewall Options
Step 18. Go back to AVG and Click Continue
Step 19. Click on Open Confirmation Dialog
Step 20. Click Allow
Step 21. Click Continue
Step 22. Click Got it
Step 24. Click Keep (this will help you uninstall AVG in the future)
AVG has now been downloaded to your Device. Now it is time to run a Smart Scan.
Run Smart Scan
Open up AVG antivirus. Before running the scan, Turn off Hacker Attacks and Payments section of AVG , follow the prompts, then run the scan.
Step 1. Click on Run Smart Scan
Step 2. Click on Next (this scan will take a few minutes to run)
Step 3. Click Next
Step 4. Click on Skip for now
Step 5. Click Done
You have completed the installation and quick scan for AVG. Try connecting to Global Protect and logging in.
Change Network Settings
Step 1. Mac settings > network > ethernet > advanced > tcp/ip> set ipv6 to link local only. Try conntecting to Global Protect again. If your still having issues, make sure you
installed the Intuit Registry Key for Mac.
If you already did install the Registry key, disconnect from Global Protect, restart your computer, open av and the run the scan again, then try connecting to Global Protect again.
If your still having issues, open a ticket by using the Bot in the bottom right hand corner, select DESD - Tech Support, and follow the prompts. To avoid confusion, please do not open more than one ticket.
