Global Protect MAC ONLY - Installing and Reinstalling Global Protect

At this time, only Big Sur and Monterey are approved to use Global Protect. Please follow the steps below for uninstalling and re-installing Global Protect

How to Uninstall Global Protect

Step 1: Go to your downloads folder 

Step 2: Find Global protect package and double click

Step 3: Follow the screen prompts to uninstall


If it still wont uninstall or if you dont have the package, please follow these additional steps:

Steps 4: Go to Launch Pad > Find "Terminal" (black icon) > copy and paste this link: sudo /Applications/GlobalProtect.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall_gp.sh 





Step 5: Press Enter

Step 6: Enter your computer login password and press enter.
      Special Note: As you are putting in the password, it will not show up on the screen. Just keep typing the password, then press enter

Step 7: It might not look like it, but let it run for a min or so. The app will be deleted

How to Download Global Protect

Step 1: Click to this link to download Global Protect

Step 2: Once the file has been downloaded run it or double click on it 

Step 3: When Prompted again, run the Global Protect Installer 

 

Step 4: Click on Continue and leave the destination path as default

 

Step 5: Make sure to checkmark GlobalProtect Install under the installation type. (this is also the same spot you would checkmark Uninstall instead of Install if you were to be uninstalling) 


Step 6: Click Install to confirm that you want to install Global Protect 

Step 7: When prompted put in your Username and Password, then click Install Software 


Step 8: After installation is complete, you close the installer (keep the file, don't trash it, in case you need to uninstall


Step 9: Open Security Preferences to enable the system extensions in macOS, a pop up will usually pop up and you go to Open Security Preferences

 

**Note if you did not see the pop up, don't panic, just go to Systems Settings and go to Security and Privacy 

 

Step 10: On the Security and Privacy window, click the padlock icon on the bottom left hand side to make changes 


Step 11: Select App Store and identified developers in the Allow apps downloaded from area, click Allow 


Step 12: After you have done this, restart the computer, and you can try to login to GlobalProtect again
