Handy SRW- Installation


Perform the following steps to access your Omni Secure Desktop from your local computer using Handy Secure Remote Worker (SRW) (VDI).

Step 1: Download and install the Handy SRW (VDI) client

1.1. Download the Handy SRW (VDI) client from here:  Handy - VDI Installation Link

1.2. Once downloaded, depending on your browser, you'll either:

a. click "Open file" to start or
b. go to your "Downloads" folder and double-click to open the file.

1.3. Once the installer has launched, in the Omni Email Address field, enter your Omni GBA email address (i.e., firstname.lastname@omnigba.com). 



1.4. Click "Install".

1.5. Handy SRW (VDI) will then download and install automatically.


1.6 Once installed, a reboot is required.  Click "Yes" to start rebooting.
Note: Although the prompt says "Error" in the upper left, the installation was successful. Please continue.



Step 2: Launch Handy SRW (VDI) and open Parallels Client 

2.1. Double-click the "Secure Remote Worker" application on your desktop.



2.2. Handy SRW (VDI) will initialize and ask to install the Parallels Client. Click "Start Installation." The installation will take a couple of minutes to complete.



2.3. Once completed, Handy SRW (VDI) will ask if you wish to launch Secure Remote Worker. Click "Yes."



2.5. You are now logged into the Handy SRW (VDI) application and presented with the available applications.

 

2.6. Click "Omni Desktops."

Step 3: Connect to the VDI 

3.1. Click "Omni Desktops" to launch the Parallels Client.

3.2. You'll be asked to accept the End-User License Agreement (EULA). Click and drag down the scroll bar on the right to review the agreement. Click the "I accept the terms in the license agreement" checkbox and click "OK."  



3.3. Sign in with your Omni Microsoft Teams credentials.



3.4. Once you have signed in, you will be redirected to the Omni Desktops website and asked to launch the "Parallels Client." 

3.5. Select the "Always allow..." checkbox and then click "Open."



3.6. The Parallels Client will then connect to the desktop environment. This process may take a few seconds to complete.



3.7. Once authenticated, you'll be presented with the desktop(s) available to you. Double-click on a desktop icon to launch a virtual desktop session.



3.8. After launching a desktop, you'll be logged in automatically.



You should know

  1. Handy SRW (VDI) does not work on Macs.
  2. A smartphone is required for dual-factor authentication. 
  3. CTRL + ALT + TAB has been disabled because there is no password to unlock the system due to SSO.  Any time you walk away from the computer, you must log out. 
  4. The SRW will automatically log our GBAs out after 15 minutes of inactivity, and GBA will need to relaunch completely.
